News from our Studios
Rowan has 5 studios: the Wood Studio, the Ceramics Studio, mixed media and a textiles and printmaking studio.
We’re creating work for Christmas 2015 for our winter warmer on 2 December.
Russell, Peter and the Wood Studio team have been making signage and notice boards for the National Trust, numerous finger labyrinths (each one unique) alongside our normal day-to-day production of speculative pieces of work; more often than not inspired by ideas from our students.
In the ceramics studio cartoon inspired animal jars have given way to Christmas tree deceptions, gingerbread style houses and Christmas tree tea light holders. As in the wood studio, this work for sale is complemented by the constant production of individual sculptures by our students who come up with their own ideas for works of art.
Textiles has become increasingly popular and we now have a new textile space and sewing machine. Some of our students have developed the skills required to operate a sewing machine independently which has opened up their creative potential, enabling them to be more experimental with their work. Our printmaking studio is creating fantastic original work for exhibition and for our Christmas cards. Our mixed media studio has also been experimenting with silk dying ready for the winter warmer.
