Forest school

Rowan Rangers is our new forest programme, launched in 2020 as a safer alternative to indoors activities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

At Rowan Rangers, student artists are encouraged to connect with their environment and each other through a wide range of activities including storytelling, den building, fire lighting, green woodwork, wildlife spotting and creating artwork inspired by nature.

Rowan Rangers runs every Friday, 10am – 2pm in private woodland in Histon, Cambridge.

Rowan Rangers is led by tutor Russell Cuthbert who has been with Rowan since 2013. Russell is a keen painter, sculptor and wildlife enthusiast who studied conservation at college before going on to earn a degree in Fine Art. Before committing to working with Rowan full-time, Russell worked from a studio at Wysing Arts Centre and exhibited his work both nationally and internationally. In 2019 he trained to become a Forest School leader and set up Rowan Rangers.

If you like nature and would like to join Rowan Rangers – why not become a student?
